Mike Dix - Funeral Details Update (24th February 2018)

5 months ago By Paul Duester

The club is saddened to hear of the passing of club member Mike Dix who died.

Mike passed away today (22/02/2018) at home after losing his long and courageous battle against cancer.

Mike has been connected with the club for nearly 50 years. In his early adult life he regularly played Football for the club, being more than a useful goalkeeper.

However, it was Cricket that became his passion. He opened the bowling for the club for many years in Sunday afternoon fixtures, and became fixture secretary - a position he held until he retired from his playing days.

Not content with watching, Mike took up umpiring and stood as the club umpire in the Oxfordshire Cricket Association League. He quickly became a much respected and well liked person amongst both players and fellow umpires. This he did until the 2017 season when he had to stop due to ill health.

Chadlington Sports Club wish to send their condolences to his wife Jane and family at this very sad time.

Mike's funeral service will take place on Monday 12th March at 1:30pm at St Mary's Church, Cogges, Witney, OX28 3LA. It will be followed by a private burial.
