WDFA Div 1. Chadlington 3 (Peachey 2, Chadwick) Eynsham SSC 0

Chadlington First Team finished their season with a thumping win over Eynsham SSC on Saturday to send their opponents adrift at the bottom of the table and favourites for relegation.

They had to withstand an early onslaught from Eynsham as the new look back three of Webb, Wezyk and Gray took time to gel. As the game went on they improved steadily and blocked everything out in front of keeper Joe Bennett who kept his second clean sheet of the season.

Matt Chadwick fired Chad into a first half lead by striking his 11th First Team goal and ended as top scorer.

In the second half, Chad piled on early pressure and should have increased the advantage. It wasn’t until Alfie Peachey was introduced off the bench that the advantage was confirmed as he quickly formed a quality partnership with Chadwick. Peachey who had scored 3 successive hat-tricks for the Reserves in recent weeks added a brace to secure the win. He has now scored 22 goals in 22 games for Firsts and Reserves.

The whole team put in a great effort to round off the season. In midfield, Hazlewood, Hughes, Woodward, Harris , Morley, Hannington and Esteves all battled hard and put in plenty of running throughout.

The win leaves Chad in second position in the league 3 points in front of their nearest rivals Moreton Rangers. However, both Moreton and Milton in fourth have games in hand and should overtake Chad in the promotion race.

Whatever these results the First Team have had another great year and improved on last season by winning more games, scoring more goals and conceding less.

Well done lads!

Team: Bennett, Webb (c), Wezyk, Gray, Woodward, Hughes, Hannington, Harris, Hazlewood, Chadwick, Morley. Subs: Peachey, Esteves, O’Brien.
