Chadlington First Team halted a run of three defeats on Saturday as they drew 1-1 away to Witney Royals in Division One.
They found themselves 1-0 down at half time having played poorly but a much improved second half performance gave them a share of the points.
Chads equaliser came from the returning Matt Chadwick which was his 10th goal of the season. Others were also unlucky not to get on the scoresheet, Lee Woodward was inches away from getting a winner as his shot hit the woodwork. Alfie Peachey also failed to make the most of a 1 on 1 with the Royals keeper.
Stand out performances came from 16 year old Roman Harris in midfield and 17 year old Konrad Wezyk who made is debut at cenrtre back. Both were comfortable on the ball and controlled the pace of the game in their respective positions.
The draw leaves Chad fourth in the league and they next face fellow mid table side, Bourton Rovers at home.
Team: Medland, Hazlewood, Walker G, Walker T, Wezyk, Holland, Hughes, Morley, Harris, Woodward, Peachey. Subs: Chadwick, Godfrey, Foster.
Chadlington Reserves did the double over Kingham Reserves on Saturday as they beat their rivals 2-1 at home in Division Four.
Having dispatched Kingham 3-0 earlier in the season and assembling a strong squad for the game, confidence was high for the game. Chad started very strongly and quickly got their reward when Ellis Godin tore down the left hand wing squaring the ball to Ollie Jordan who slotted home to make it 1-0 after just 5 minutes.
The lead should have been added to as they contiued to dominate the early exchanges but as the first half went on Kingham started to battle back into the game.
In the second half, Kingham came out strong and penned Chad in with waves of pressure but never really creating clear cut chances to worry keeper Josh Betts.
With 10 minutes to go though, Adrian Williams popped up to capitalise on some indecision in the Chad back line to equalise and send the Kingham faithful on the sidelines rapturous. It then looked like their momentum would lead them to a winner but this Chad team had other ideas.
Just minutes later, veteran Andy Watson engineered a shot on goal inside the box that the Kingham keeper parried into Connor McMahon who despatched the ball into the net to restore the lead.
There was more defending to be done though before the final whistle but as with every league game this season, Chads defence were resolute. The 3 points lift them to second in the Division Four table and with games in hand they now can now look forward to a promotion battle over the remaining 8 games of the season.
Team: Betts, Godin A, Mulhearn, Jeffcock, Tinkham, Wellstood, Godin E, Hobden, Waller, White, Jordan. Subs: Watson, Taylor, McMahon.
