Chadlington First Team travelled to Bourton Rovers on Saturday in a reverse fixture from the week before. In that game Bourton rolled out 4-2 winners in an end to end game.
This week Chadlington had to shuffle the team due to injuries to Lee Woodward and Toby Walker. Captain Jay Webb and Jordan Godfrey were also missing. Therefore into the squad came First Team top scorer Matt Chadwick, Reserves top scorer Matty Wezyk and new signing Iuri Esteves.
Chadlignton got their revenge with a 5-2 rout over their opponents. It was Alfie Peachey that made the game his own as he grabbed a hat-trick with Iuri Esteves cheekily back healing a goal on his return to the club.
The win keeps them in 5th place in the league, 3 points behind 2nd place and with a game in hand.
Team: Bennett, Foster, Bayliss, Harris, Holland, Hughes, Morley, Scearce, Hazlewood, Peachey, Scearce, Wezyk. Subs: Chadwick, Esteves.
Second placed Chadlington Reserves faced top of the table Milton Under Wychwood Reserves at home in Division Four. With 2 games in hand on their opponents but 3 points behind, Chad knew that it was vital that they did not lose the game.
Both teams were in good form going into the game having won all four games in 2019. Milton are the leagues top goal scorers while Chad have the best defense. Therefore the final result of a 2-2 draw was probably inevitable.
It was certainly a game of 2 halves as Chadlington started the game bright, within 20 minutes they were 2-0 in front with goals first from Ellis Godin and then Charlie White. The home side were blistering in attack and the game plan of getting in behind the Milton defense was paying dividends. To their regret and later cost, a deserved third goal didnt come.
In the second half Milton piled on the pressure as they sort to get back into the game. Their height and physical advantage soon got its reqward as they scored to quick goals to level the game.
With tiring legs and both teams attemting to win the game it could have gone either way late on. A draw was a fair reflection of the game.
The Division Four title is still within Chads own hands with 6 games to go but there are still a number of very tricky fixtures to overcome.
Team: Betts, A Godin, Jeffcock, Mulhean, Hardiman, Wellstood, Hobden, Tinkham, E Godin, White, Jordan. Subs: Waller, Watson, Taylor
