Garden City "turfed over" by Mighty Chad
By Michael Guest
sensational season opener
Welcome back to the home of football and the return of our heroes after a long relaxing summer basking in their glory following the season finale at Bloxham.
Playing on a new pitch and playing down the slope in the first half a revved up Chadlington hosted a new team in the name of Garden City. The team lined up as follows:
with Cottrell, Cameron, Chapman, Lyle, Thomas, Calvert all eagerly waiting to make an appearance
The first half was dominated by Chadlington with the majority of possession and all the chances fell the way of the whites. Guest hit a thunderbolt at the upright early in the game and sent a shockwave through the Garden City players, this was swiftly followed by Englands low strike which zipped past the post...........within minutes it was Fagan however who broke the deadlock and was rewarded for his persistence.
England and Ford used the pitch wisely and the constant pressure resulted in a few corners of which Guest almost scored Chads first headed goal with a great effort.
H-T - 1.0 - England had a tummy upset and was replaced with Calvert
Uphill second half and a new Chadlington came out. With only a hill in their way the team marched on and within moments Fagan decided to swirl past no fewer than three players before slotting to Guest who smashed the ball into the top right corner from outside the box..........2.0
Almost immediately afterwards Guest had another strike which walloped Fagan on the line to make it 3.0
Wheeler had more to do in the second half with a series of brave and stunning acts of goalkeeping, using his head, shoulders, knees and toes to keep Garden City at bay.
Anthony was never troubled at the back and commanded his area with ease. Hughes looked like he hadnt had a summer break, with grace and finesse he controlled the midfield allowing Ford to whizz up and down the wings like a rocket.
Cottrell came on for Guest
Cameron for Fagan
Chapman for Hughes
Thomas and Lyle both made appearances
with a few moments to go, a Ford corner was zipped into the mixer for Calvert to slot over the line
40 mins played - 4.0 - job done
MoTM - Fagan
