Chadlington First Team narrowly booked their place in the Semi Final of the Watts Junior Challenge Cup with a late 1-0 victory other Faringdon Development.
Having defeated Faringdon twice in the league this season, Chad were confident going into the game however with their opposition having forced their way through to the Fred Ford Cup final it was clear that for cup games they were able to strengthen from their Hellenic Division Two side.
The game was an even affair with Faringdon probably looking the most dangerous in front of goal. Chadlington though were gifted a chance shortly before half time by the award of a penalty. Unfortunatly Alfie Peachey could not covert and it remained 0-0 at half time.
In the second half it became clear that Faringdon were going to defeat themselves. A poor attitude and self inflicted sense of injustice towards decisions made by the referee meant that they in a short period of time they were left with just 8 men on the field of play via a series of sin bins, dismissals and injuries. It was frankly quite embarrassing.
And so the inevitable soon happened, on 85 minutes Alfie Peachey grabbed the winning goal to the relief of all and to send Chad on to the semi final.
