Chadlington First Teams good run of league form came crashing down on Saturday as they went down 2-0 to Aston in Division One.
Aston were just to good on the day and Chad never got going.
Chadlington Reserves travelled to promotion rivals FC Mills on Saturday in what they knew was going to be an almighty battle. It didn't get off to the best of starts as within just 5 minutes, Chad were 1-0 down as they got caught cold in defence and lost the ball cheaply.
It didn't take long though for them to get back onto an even keel as they were awarded a penalty for handball on the line. George Slatter duly stepped up and made it 1-1. Later in the half he doubled his tally and got Chads second as they went into half time 2-1 up.
The second half was a tight affair with both teams going end to end with chances however late in the second half Chad were reduced to 10 men with Mauro Esteves dismissed for a second bookable offence. Matters soon after got worse as the referee harshly adjudged centre back Kevin Mulhearn to have handled inside the box and awarded a penalty which FC Mills converted. 2-2.
For the next 10 minutes Chads task was even harder as they played with 9 men as Nadir Fortes found himself in the sin bin. Despite these set backs they stood firm and weathered the onslaught to close out the game 2-2 at full time.
On reflection it was a point gained but also a story of what could have been.
