Week 27 Results - Saturday 22nd April 2023

Chadlington First Team hosted second placed RAF Brize Norton on Saturday in Division One and stunned the already promoted side with a 5-2 routing.

The first half was a close affair with both teams going end to end with chance. It was Chad though that established a lead as Matt Soanes, Alfie Peachey and Hans Korge all scored to give them a comfortable lead.

Within minutes of the second half though Brize grabbed a goal back to give them hope that a come back could be on the cards. This was snuffed out though by another Hans Korge goal followed by a superb first time volley at the back stick from Matt Waller.

Brize did score again but at 5-2 it was just a consolation.

This was Chads best result and performance of the season and puts them in good form for the Junior Cup campaign.

Chadlington Reserves went into their home game against Yarnton A knowing that top spot in the league was beyond them. They did however have an unbeaten home record to protect.

Yarnton knew that avoiding defeat would result in them being best placed to win the league over Wootton with two games remaining. It was not a surprise therefore that a 0-0 draw was played out which was the repeat result from their encounter back in October.

Despite no goals being scored it was an entertaining game with both teams making chances. Chad probably edged the game but more importantly came through unscathed and were able to rest 5 players for Tuesdays cup final.

This was Chads last league game of the season and the point puts them in second place. With Yarnton having two games in hand and FC Mills drawing a third place finish is secured along with a record points tally since reforming in 2012.
